Aloha Fest is this weekend. Those of you in the area, I HIGHLY recommend going. Lots of really good food, shopping, entertainment, good fun.

If you happen to visit on Sunday, we're racing around Alcatraz at 10 o'clock. See you there!

The best one-stop place for anyone to learn about Outrigger Canoeing in can be found on this page. Everything from Paddle construction, to the history of paddling, to even sailing canoes. It's a very good read for people who want to familiarize themselves with all different aspects of paddling.

People keep sending me that stupid gif of spiderman dancing. I usually reply with this. Turn up the sound!

If I may bitch for a little bit... Unless you're steering, I don't think that just because you've paddled Molokai before, you should be telling everyone what to do in the canoe.

I am a firm believer that women should take this class. Generally, everyone should stay healthy and have a regular work out program. And this is the best place for the ladies to start. *grin* oink. oink.

Lots of first times this weekend. Saturday was sprint championships in Sac. We came in second!... to last. But that's okay... because that was the first time I've ever steered in an actual race. I'm going to have to learn how to paddle and steer more effectively. Practice. Practice. Practice... Problem is finding people who don't mind paddling me through my growing pains.

Today I had the pleasure of paddling with Kilohana OCC. Looks like I'll be practicing in Redwood City more often. I've only paddled open water once before today and I was fortunate that this time, the bay was really flat. I rode the chase boat a third of the time, I paddled about a third, and steered a third. Again, problems with keeping the canoe straight trying to steer and paddle at the same time. Embarassing. "Slow as molasses..."

I guess Harvard got kicked up on the cool ladder since they've got moviestars walking through their halls. Who at Cal Poly ever went into showbiz? Well, there was Weird Al... No wonder people think we're so nerdy. I'm sure all the smart engineering types helped us claim our spot too...

For those of you who want a pretty paddle, XyloBladz in Australia offer some really cool inlays at really good prices (even cheaper if you team up and order in bulk). They're a little slow with the delivery, but the results are great! I just recently got a brand new steering blade from them and I'm very happy!

Saw something the other night that made me go looking on the net for spoilers. It's a long shot, but I'm hoping that this series turns out good. The Batman franchise has been suffering a slow painful death with the last couple of movies. Just hope they don't mess this one up.
