A better thought out arguement. Number one already supports the current "war." People are misled to think we'll be bombing civilian cities... WTF? The government isn't crazy? So the arguement is flawed in that it doesn't say exactly how to avoid war... just call it something else.

Okay some bright news on the war... We're safe now. Apparently Optimus Prime is headed out to help our boys.

UPDATE: Okay... I take back what I said about "One madman at a time..." Apparently we're going for both. The better way for Bush to handle the media would have been to try and get their focus on their efforts to get Bin Laden.

No one wants war... but sometimes, there are things that just must be done. I need to vent.
A cease fire ended the Gulf War about a decade back. The U.N. then put up resolutions that Iraq was "supposed to" follow. Iraq has broken quite a few of them since them. The overwhelming majority of the infracted resolutions state immediate consequences and last chance. They've been breaking them for over a decade. Many criticize Bush Jr. for "rushing" to war. The fact is that technically, according to U.N. resolution, we should have finished this little spat circa the time America threw its morals out the Whitehouse window. (Clinton's focus on domestic issues and lucky timing with the economy made him really popular among the populous) So we've been giving Saddam Hussein a chance, then another, and even again and he STILL hasn't complied. We haven't rushed into anything. It takes guts to be the one that says "Enough." when no one else wants to... and even if you know everyone hates you for it. You can search for an alternative only for so long when you know that someone is doing wrong in the background.
America's jaded vision of "peace" died on September 11th. We felt too sure of ourselves; the indestructible world power. We had to re-learn that peace is something that we actually have to work for. Long ago, we got the reputation of "the world's police." We should focus on domestic issues, but we can't afford to ignore our foreign policy. Still, I think that Bush should have (it's too late to go back and do this first) focused our efforts on catching Bin Laden first. One madman at a time, Mr. President.
Many Americans want to feel COMPLETELY safe. We dwell on "What if...?" Our journalists do "investigative reporting" where they sneak items on to a plane, or slip through security via a back door. When we see this, we're horrified. "Something should be done to prevent this!" Security measures are IMMEDIATELY put up to fix these holes. Extra searches, passenger questioning, military presence. We're safe.... Slow news day. Our journalists then decide to do more "investigative reporting." "Are all these security measures an invasion of peoples privacy? The wait for a flight at major international airports is at an alltime high." This is madness!! Make the 3 hour wait at the airport stop... But then we're not completely safe anymore.
Some demonstrators that oppose the war are getting to be a pain. (Notice I said some demonstrators. They complain that the war will take money away from our schools and domestic programs while the protests themselves cost quite a but of money too. Donate that to the school of your choice. I've seen people in demonstrating for "peace" actually harassing passers by who are in support of our troops. The most amusing so far was one I saw on the 10 o'clock news the other night. This guy would hear NOBODY's point of view. He close mindedly, harassed a man in front of a nearby TV camera pointing at the man and saying, "He said he wants to kill Iraqi babies! He said he wants to kill Iraqi babies!" While the man turned to the reporter an laughed. "I just told him I supported the president!" The other day, demonstrators tried to stop the operation of the Pacific Stock Exchange. They've planned to stop traffic and be a nuisance until they're heard. Personally, I don't think any of this a way to gain support for your cause.
I believe everyone has their own opinion on the war. This is mine. But I accept others opinions because I understand the desire for peace. I have no problems agreeing to disagree. That's what friends do sometimes.
If you got this far, thanks. I know it's mostly rambling.;)
Even if you don't support the war. Support our troops.

We can go to war as early as tomorrow. Pray for our troops.
Last I heard, my cousin was in Kuwait. I worry. But I'm sure he's kicking ass right now.
Update: If you know someone in the Middle East that might need a morale boost. Send them a care package.

Business2 has posted The 101 Dumbest Moments in Business and I have to say that although not rolling on the floor hilarious, some of these are actually amusing... below are a few good ones:
11. Whiffed pitch No. 2: swiping your competitor's idea and completely screwing it up.
In an attempt to blunt Apple's (AAPL) "Switch" campaign, Microsoft posts a page on its website, titled "Confessions of a Mac to PC Convert," featuring a woman touting the Windows XP operating system. It's soon revealed, however, that the woman pictured is a model and the touting comes from a freelance writer paid by Gates & Co.
30. Whiffed pitch No. 4: sodomy humor.
In a spot titled "Captive Audience," 7-Up pitchman Godfrey hands out cans of soda to prison inmates. After dropping a can, Godfrey remarks, "I'm not picking that up." The ad is pulled after complaints from the group Stop Prison Rape, which, according to a 7-Up spokesperson, "had some very valid points about the ad being able to be interpreted a different way from what we intended."

Panic in the heartland, part 1: The crisis begins.
Outside a Wal-Mart (WMT) in the small town of Geneseo, Ill., a 73-year-old woman buys a newspaper and suddenly finds herself trapped when the door of the news rack slips closed and catches her coat. Unable to wriggle out, she solicits a bystander to enter the Wal-Mart and ask for help. A Wal-Mart employee comes out to explain that she can't assist, citing a policy against tampering with the news rack.
Panic in the heartland, part 2: The tense negotiation.
After going back inside for a moment, the Wal-Mart employee comes out and tells the trapped woman that she'll call the newspaper and have a representative come to release her. The woman suggests an alternative solution: Somebody could simply put two quarters in the machine and open the damn door. The Wal-Mart employee rejects this out of hand, explaining that the store can't pay refunds for the news rack.
Panic in the heartland, part 3: The sweet taste of liberation.
Eventually the employee relents and puts two quarters in the machine. Later the liberated woman's daughter visits the store and gives her a $5 bill to be used strictly to finance future releases. A Wal-Mart corporate spokesperson apologizes for the incident, saying, "This is not how we do business."

Since I can't drink anymore, in honor of St. Patty's day, I'll be watching this movie tonight.
Fans of "the Saints" will also be excited to know that a sequel is in the works. No. Really.

KCCN FM100. I've been listening to their morning show via their streaming audio for a few years now. It's one of the very few true radio shows out on the net nowadays after RIAA's little tour of destruction of music on the web. Radio stations all over the country used to be available to anyone in the world... now they're pretty scarce or not advertised. You have to use launch, or Netscape radio or something like that but you don't really get the flavor of any certain place... If I wanted to listen to East coast hip hop, I'd expect to hear an East coast DJ on an East coast radio station.
*sigh*
